the short continues yomna's preoccupation with the city.i can already see in the poems how yomna regards the city as the space where the human soul has been disfiguered and lost for ever. there is a yearning for a life in the city already lost, as if the urban space was at some point (for yomna) a place where more humane life existed. although i like the poems and the short story very much, i do think that the city still presents us with opportunities to fashion our lives in total freedom from the surveilence of smaller and more reactionary communities. in the city one can work, live, produce, and even take risks anonimously without the fear of punishment from the system maintainers. the city is a man-made forest, beautiful and uncertain one only has to accept it the way we accept natural settings. after all, who is to say that a natural space is more authentic than man-made one? chaker
